The spine is splitting down from the top, about 3 inches down, rendering the front board a bit loose. The cloth is starting to fray along the edges. Contains the bookplate of Henry A. Sherwin. The plates are foxed, but the text is unmarked. A fragile but readable copy of a very scarce publication. A rare book of humorous anecdotes, illustrated with four black and white plates by John Leech. No editor stated, but it is believed to have been Robert B. Brough. This is one of the earliest works Leech illustrated; he signed these particular plates with either his initials or "Leech" written out, whereas his later illustrations were signed with "Leech" in a bottle. Measures approx. 5.7" x 3.25.
