Louis" on the preliminary blank page between the front free endpaper and the half-title page. A fine hardcover book in a very good dustjacket. The jacket is whole and intact (including the original $3.50 price) but shows traces of mild shelf wear along its edges and shallow chipping at the foot of the backstrip. The book itself is clean, tight, and unmarked. This is a later printing of the first edition without the statement of "first edition" on the copyrighht page. An attractive copy of one of Merton's most popular works, nicely autographed by him. Very good .
