Leckie (1920-2001) is best known for his military history books including his classic memoir HELMET FOR MY PILLOW. His character is featured prominently in the HBO series THE PACIFIC. L:eckie was also a devout Catholic and wrote several books on Catholic history. THESE ARE MY HEROES was issued in two formats: one with a dustjacket, the other without a dustjacket but with a slipcase. Both the jacket and slipcase are uncommon today. Very good .
