An index of the symbols that distinguish one from another in Christian artwork and iconography. Although this guide does not include any images, it is very easy to use and learn from. Part I allows readers to look up the saint (or patriarch or phrophet) and learn their emblems. Part II is reversed, listing emblems so that readers can see all associated saints. This second part includes a list of patronages for various arts, trades, professions, countries, and cities. Following the main text is a list of primary saint's feast days in the Roman, Old English, Scottish, French, Spanish, German, and Greek calendars. .
