Author: [Edmund Elys] Title: An Answer to Six Arguments Produced by Du-Pin to Prove That Passage in Josephus in Which There Is Honourable Mention of Jesus Christ, to Be Spurious
Description: London, W. Marshall, 1698. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Leather bound. 14p. Bound in half blue leather and marbled boards by Kerr & Richardson of Glasgow, probably in the late 19th century. Touch of rubbing to spine edges else a clean, tight, unmarked hardcover book in very good condition. A slim pamphlet written in response to the work of French ecclesiastic historian Louise Ellies Du Pin, arguing that the famous Testimonium Flavianum passage in Josephus was a later addition to the original manuscript. The first edition is rare with WorldCat locating only four copies worldwide (three in Britain and one in the USA). Very good .
