This work, by the Swedisch chemist Berzelius (1779-1848), founded the modern analysis by the blowpipe (Lötrohranalyse) (Darmstaedter p. 336), its use was also spread throughout the world by this work. The first part of this work contains the description of the blowpipe; the second part describes the Berzelius' experiments with minerals before the blowpipe. The German translation is by Heinrich Rose, chemist and student of Berzelius. The folded plates contain detailed parts of the blowpipe. Poggendorf I:173, DSB 2:93.
