Two works in 1 volume: (9), 328, 124, 148, 80 leaves, (2 index of psalms), 47, (1 register) pp. ; Contemporary full blindtooled calf over wood with raised bands and remains of clasps. 4to. 23 x 27 cm. Lacks the the first engraved of three title pages; With initials, decorated head- and tailpieces. Mailorder only - Alleen verzending mogelijk. Book condition : very good. Rare quarto edition of the Dutch States Bible translation bound with the even more rare quarto issue of one of the last editions of Dathenius Psalm translation accompanied with musical scores. The words are Dathenus's translation of the metrical version of the Psalms by Marot and Bèze. The added catechism is a translation of the Heidelberger Katechismus. This work has the dutch text of each line of each psalm printed below diamond-head music scores intended for singing. Both are printed by the known association of printers that had the privilige of the city council of Amsterdam to print bibles, the 'compagnie'. After years of criticism, the work by Dathenius was replaced by another translation in 1772. The copy in Nijmegen has the 1768 Bible text but bound with a 1774 version of the new Psalms translation. Includes a summary of each book of both the Old and New Testament.
