Description: Lovanii, typis Francisci vande Velde, 1706. 82, (6) pp. 3 works in 1 volume. Contemporary calf with raised bands, gilt decorated spine & red morocco letterpiece. Book condition : very good. Very good, solid and clean copy in contemporary binding of three major works in historical exegesis and hermeneutics. Henri de Bukentop, Flemish theologian (1653-1716), was a famous scripturist and opponent of the Versio Embrica. In his times, historical studies were more cultivated than scholastic and he has recourse to the original (Hebrew and Greek) texts in order to explain doubtful or obscure readings in the Vulgate. Second edition of all three works, the first had appeared in 1696. These works not in BCNI; Cf. Hurter, III, 761; NBG 7, col. 761. Old names and small library stamp on free endpaper, small piece of label torn off, covers with light traces of drowth.
