Very good copy of this biography of the famous Italian born Spanish diplomat Cardinal Giulio Alberoni (1664-1752). The author Rousset de Missy was born in Laon (France) 1686 in a protestant family ruined after the revocation of the Edict of Nantes. At age 18 he fled to The Netherlands, opened a private school in Utrecht and bought the Mercure historique et politique. Two printed ex-libris on first paste-down, old manuscript annotations on Alberoni on first flyleaves; corners bumped, spine end damaged, Some browning and light waterstaining.
