Reprint of 2 contemporary works on life and work of Jean-Joseph Surin (1600-1665), a French Jesuit mystic, preacher, devotional writer and exorcist. He is remembered for his participation in the exorcisms of Loudun in 1634-37. The author, Abbé Henry or Henri-Marie Boudon (1624-17021) was a priest and archdeacon of the diocese of Évreux. A leading figure in the French School of Spirituality, he was the author of numerous spiritual works that were widely distributed.
