Description: 1828. Receipt 70 x 100 mm. for £12 15s. received from Lady Lowther[?]. Lion Brewhouse was run by James Goding and Henry Broadwood. James Goding went on to found The Lion Brewery in 1836 which was run by the family until taken over by Hoare and Co. in 1924. They built a substantial brwery on the South Bank of the Thames but drew their water for 5 wells within the brewery, rather than from the river.
