Mounted on old pastedowns and odd pages from Robertson's Elements of Navigation. [NB. only fragments of the book: 2 boards, a couple of preliminary pages, one of which has the mounted trade card, and the title pages, one with the signature and date of the recipient. Samuel Maynard [active c. 1830 - 60], was one of the few specialist scientific booksellers of the period. here we have his most attractive trade card incorporating geometric shapes and mathematical formulae.
