Description: c. 1825. Single large engraved advertising sheet, 410 x 285 mm. top half laid down on thin card, with old creases and manuscript prices for individual engines and extras, continued verso. Phillips & Hopwood, makers of fire pumps and engines was founded in 1797> by 1811 the company was known as James Hopwood and by 1818 it was Hopwood and Tilley, presumably involving William Joshua Tilley. By 1825 it was Tilley and Co. (late Hopwood and Tilley) and continued at least until the mid-19th Century.
