Awarded "...to the most deserving Labourers in Agriculture, or to the Widows of such Labourers who shall for the longest period (not less than eight years) have brought up and supported the largest families, in habits of industry, and without receiving any relief from the parish." General farm labourer's wages would have been around 20d per day at this time so £4 was equivalent to around 2 month's earnings.
