Description: Manuscript, 1744. Single manuscript sheet heightened with watercolopur, 320 x 435 mm. old folds, a little browning. This shows the disposition of the Allied forces, mostly made up of British, Dutch, Austrian and Hanoverian forces, arranged close to the town of Lille. Wade ordered an advance towards Lille from these positions in July 1744, but the action stalled due to various logistical problems> Wade had to keep his options for retreat to Britain open in case of further Jacobite troubles at home.
