Title: The Frenchmen in Billinsgate.
Description: Alnwick: W. Davison, c. 1812. Etching, 165 x 235 mm. Showing a pugilistic encounter between a young fishwife of Billingsgate, London, and a Frenchman> the former, with superior strength and skill, will conquer. A slightly tamer version of a satirical cartoon of c. 1770 which showed the Frenchman, lacking the seat of his trousers, defecating in fear.
