Theoidosius Purland [1805 - 81] was a surgeon dentist, born in Norwich, then moving to London where he specialised in treating children. He was also a prolific literary collector and antiquary, compiling dozens of scrap albums> the Welcome Institute has one relating to dentistry, another entitled "A Pilgrimage to ye Pigge and Peas by Five Bores" is at the Museuim of the Order of St. John, and the British Library holds an album of "Alsatian Eccentricities."
