Rather stained and rubbed> pencil notes in Italian to page 69, pencil diagram of a cocktail glass with German note to final blank> old illegible inscriptions to end paper. The portrait frontispiece bears a presentaion inscription from the author "Mr Henry Leroy With the Authors Compliments C. Paul" Charlie Paul learned his bar tending skills in New York, travelled to Paris and then London working at the London Aquarium. He subsequently worked at the London Exhibition of 1887, headlined by Buffalo Bill. First published in 1871 [copy listed at the National Library of Scotland only], this 2nd edition is equally scarce [British Library only]> it was reprinted several times in the early 20th century. All editions are uncommon.
