Author: POULSON, George Title: The History and Antiquities of the Seigniory of Holderness in the East Riding of the County of York, including the Abbies of Meaux and Swine, with the Priories of Nunkeeling and Burstall> Compiled from Authentic Charters, Records, and the unpublished manuscripts of the Rev. William Dade.
Description: Hull: Robert Brown, 1840-41. 2 volumes. Large 4to. pp. xx, 489: 552> many illustrations in the text, plates, folding maps, pedigrees, etc. Original cloth, a little chipped on the spines but a Very Good sound set. Originally issued in 4 parts, then, as here in 2 volumes, the placement of the illustrations is always unreliable. Some early copies have plates from the unpublished Dade's History of Holderness, and others seem to have plates replaced with others or placed not according to the plate list. This copy should have had one of Dade's plates, but presumably the publisher had exhausted his supply when it was bound up.
