Title: Papier Maché Baby's Ball.
Description: c. 1870. Colour printed nursery ball made from hollowed papier maché, c. 60 mm. diameter, containing dried peas or similar as a rattle. An unusually nice example without the wear and damage that would normally be expected after all this time. The ball is made from two equal parts, glued together. The colour printed illustrations were pasted on afterwards and appear to have been printed rather like the gores of a globe to keep the integrity of the illustration.
