Description: Manuscript, 1855. Single manuscript page, 320 x 200 mm. outlining the duties of John Stevenson, appointed gamekeeper to the Manor of Caenby. Charles Monck's primary residence was Belsay Castle, Northumberland> he inherited the estate at Caenby from his maternal grandfather whose name he adopted, having been born Middleton. The gamekeeper had authority to "...hunt, shoot fowl and kill game within my said manor for the use and benefit of himself...to take and seize all guns greyhounds pointers setting and other dogs ferrets nets lures and other engines to be had used or found within the manor for destroying of the said game."
