Description: 1831. Fine pencil drawing, 280 x 220 mm. captioned and signed. William Gunton [1791 - 1852] was an artist best known for his country scenes. Fonthill was constructed by William Beckford between 1796 and 1813 but suffered a number of collapses and rebuilding before being almost entirely demolished in c. 1845.
