Description: printed by Norris and Son, 17th June 1842. Bifolium printed first page, with title to last page, 320 x 200 mm. A comparative return showing the details for March 20, 1827 compared to June 17, 1842, with the numbers of each class of person and the total deposits per class. Most of the depositors seem to be ordinary men and women: servants, dress-makers, school teachers, artisans, shopkeepers and various friendly and charitable societies. The return was made to the Commissioners for the Reduction of National Debt. The London Provident Institution was founded in 1816 and by amalgamation became the London Savings Bank in 1916, becoming part of TSB in 1976.
