To promote Dr Maria Montessori's forthcoming visit to the U.K. where she was to hold a training course, a film had been taken of children at one of the U.K.'s Montessori Schools. Maria Monterssori [1870 - 1952] is arguably one of the foremost individual educators of modern times, her methods still in use all over the world in dedicated schools. From the founding of the first school in Italy in 1907, by 1911 her ideas had already spread to France and Switzerland, reaching another dozen or so countries by 1912.
