Ethel [Bip] Pares, [1904 - 1977] is an enigmatic figure and few details of her life are known for certain. She is thought to have designed over 600 dust wrappers and a number of commercial posters, including for London Transport. This piece is probably for a small poster, perhaps for an exhibition, but if it was eventually used is currently unknown.
