Title: The Victoria Rooms.
Description: Bristol c. 1840. Single sheet, 340 x 285 mm. Printed on yellow paper. An illustration and description of this magnificent Greek style public entertainment centre which now houses Bristol University's music department. The foundation stone was laid in 1838 and it opened to the public in 1842. The sculpture above the main entrance is different than the one depicted here. "The accompanying Engraving of the intended edifice is by Messrs. Whitehead and Co., (late Vizetelly, Branstone, and Co.,) of London, from a drawing by Mr. S.G. Tovey, a talented young artist, of this city."
