Friedrich Maximilian von Klinger (1752-1831), one of the few authors of the time who came from a humble background, burst on the scene in 1776 with his tragedy "Die Zwillinge," taking a prize offered by the Hamburg theater, under the auspices of the actress Sophie Charlotte Ackermann.
