Field found the work ".. a curious and very interesting history, particularly of the secret mysteries of the worship of the Incas, and the peculiarities of each tribe of Indians inhabiting Peru," (Indian bibliography, p. 76). "The work of Cieza is, in many respects, one of the most remarkable literary productions of the age of Spanish Conquest in America," according to Markham. "The second part of the Chronicle of Peru" was issued by the Hakluyt Society; no. 68. 1883. Sabin 13057. Leclerc 3133. Spain & Spanish America I: 168. Spine sunned with a few small soil spots, small institutional bookplate to front pastedown, owner's nautical bookplate opposite, hinges split but binding still tight; map fine, leaves unopened (uncut), overall still a very good copy.
