Title: De primis antiqui Latii populis, urbibus, regibus, moribus, & Festis. [ Complete in 2 Volumes ]
Description: Rome, Bernabo & Lazzarini. 1748. Full Calf, Quarto. Complete in 2 volumes. Books measure 27x21.cm. [4],407,xxxii,pp, [4],277,xxiii,pp, titles in red & black with engraved allegorical vignette, 20 engraved plates, 4 folding. Bound in period mottled calf, raised bands, gilt tooling, leather labels, full marble edges, gilt arms of an eighteenth century German bishop to centre of boards. Calf rubbed, some wear on edges, loss on head and tail of spines. Both bindings in good clean firm condition. Internally, lacking both free marble endpapers. Pages and plates in good clean condition. A nice clean set, in attractive period bindings. Originally published in 1704-05 as part of a ten-volume history of the ancient kingdom of Latium (more-or-less present day Lazio) by Corradini and Volpi. These were the only two volumes written by Corradini and were reissued independently. Corradini was a native of Sezze, a town on the Appian Way, and the second volume is an account of the history and antiquities of Sezze and its vicinity. Very Good.
