Based on Klee's course at the Bauhaus, the Sketchbook was originally handwritten notes. After being edited by Gropius and designed by Laszlo Moholy-Nagy it was published as one of the Bauhaus Student Manuals. This first English edition was translated by Sibyl Moholy-Nagy, and preserves the original layout.
