Title: Notation: The Observant Layman's Code For His Environment
Description: London, 1968 36pp, many line illustrations, maps etc. by Gordon Cullen. 21x30, stapled card wraps. Back cover slightly marked, front and contents good. Another in the series of booklets and broadsheets issued by Alcan expanding on the townscape theories of Gordon Cullen, using fictitious examples (the Town of Alcan, the Village of Long Lent with its fine parish church of St Moribunds, the sadly derelict Muffin-Gilders Hall in a 'non-descript Midland town). Beautifully illustrated as always, it's not clear if Alcan sold any more of the aluminium that they produced through this work, but they did contribute hugely to the discipline of urban design.
