Title: The Studio: An Illustrated Magazine of Fine and Applied Art (Volume Fifty Two) (including Issues 215 to 218, February to May 1911)
Description: London, The Studio 1911 334pp, [xii] (illustrations of competition winners, bound in after each issue), numerous illustrations and tip-ins, these with tissue guards, some in colour 29x22, decorated green cloth, bevelled edges, glt lettering to spine. Standard Studio binding, front a little rubbed, slight shelf-wear, light foxing on some pages, contents generally very good. Major article on Frank Brangwyn, with numerous works reproduced (Brangwyn was probably the archetype of the Studio's kind of artist - hugely industrious, capable of working in many media, and adept at both fine and applied arts). The Domestic Architecture column seems to have been erring towards the grander end of the scale for homes in this period, with a good piece on Gilbert Fraser's new Dunchurch Lodge near Rugby, completed this year. [NB - Heavy item, may required additional postage to some destinations]
