Title: The Studio: An Illustrated Magazine of Fine and Applied Art (Volume Forty Five) (including Issues 187 to 190, October 1908 to January 1909)
Description: London, The Studio 1909 340pp, numerous illustrations and tip-ins, these with tissue guards, some in colour 29x22, decorated green cloth, bevelled edges, glt lettering to spine. Standard Studio binding, front a little rubbed, spine dull, slight shelf-wear, light foxing on some pages, contents generally very good. Four issues of the magazine in the attractive Studio binding. Highlights include works by Dulac and a Burne-Jones tapestry, and Japanese colour prints, and an entertaining survey of entries of a competition to design a country cottage - several of the anonymous (fortunately) entries are comprehensively rubbished for their aesthetic and technical failings - the designers of cottages with bedrooms only four and half feet high, and the another with a large chimney apparently floating somewhere above a bedroom ceiling, were probably particularly glad to remain nameless. [NB - Heavy item, may required additional postage to some destinations]
