Description: London, Puffin 1946 28pp, coloured illustrations throughout 18x22, stapled illustrated wraps A bit rubbed, owner's name on fep in careful child's script (together with ticks for books she presumably also had in her collection), good thus for fragile item. Child's history of the building of London, extolling the virtues of centralised planning, traffic engineering and shopping arcades, and the removal of that bugbear of the interwar years, the 'ugly muddle' of posters and signs. Lovely illustrations, with just a hint of subversion every now and then.
