Description: London, Institute of Civil Engineers 1898 pp 121-206 (inclusive), 11 figures, fold-out colour map showing the different electricity companies supplying areas of London 22x14, rebound in burgundy cloth, glt txt. Very good indeed; the rare map is an excellent condition, with a few brown marks but no creases or tears. Arthur Preece was the son of William Preece, who chaired this session of the ICE, and father and son played important roles in the development of electricity supply in the London and elsewhere. This paper, with its very attractive map, sets out clearly the situation in the city at the turn of the century.
