Description: Oxford, John Henry Parker 1851, 1853, 1859 xxxii, 287pp [vol I]; v, 352pp [vol II]; viii, 1-[200]pp, [201]-491pp, 4pp publishers notices [vol III, parts 1 and 2], hundreds of drawn images throughout. 23x16, four uniform volumes, blue blind-stamped cloth, glt text on spines. Edges rather rubbed, corners bumped, owners' signature on ffep of one volume, generally fair to good set. Turner died at the age of only 37 after the publication of the first volume, and the work was completed by his publisher, Parker. Excellent survey, very nicely illustrated.
