Boards edge worn and rubbed, spine pulled and rubbed, somewhat faded, contents very bright and clean. Lovely set of plates, measured drawings of St Paul's, various Oxford and Cambridge colleges, Hampton Court Palace and so on. Henry Beveridge was an Edinbugh architect, with a long-standing interest in both woodwork and draughtsmanship. He had begun to assemble the collection of drawings published here during a 'prolonged measuring tour' started in 1910; his mentor was his fellow Scottish architect and enthusiast for the Renaissance period, John Kinross [Dictionary of Scottish Architects].
