Description: London, J Taylor 1807 16pp, 19 (out of 20) plates. 8pp catalogue of works published by Taylor loosely inserted, strip cut out and loosely inserted therein. 31x25, bound in original boards, these re-covered in marbled and blue paper, paper label attached. Sewing broken, plate 9 missing, otherwise good though fragile. This copy from the library of John PIPER; with a pencil sketch (by Piper?) on the rear endleaf. While the title of this work says that it is the first part of a series, the second part had actually been published the previous year as Designs for Elegant Cottages and Small Villas. It appears that Gyfford only managed to acquire one commission - Bellevue House, demolished in 1936 - and traded mostly as a draftsman.
