Description: Montréal, SATRA 1973-74 (vol 1 second edition; vols 2 and 3 first editions) 24pp foldout maps/diagrams (vol 1); 36pp, including several foldout maps (vol 2); 148pp (vol 3). Many colour maps, diagrams and photographs throughout. Text in French and English. 50x41 (vol 1); 25x42 (vols 2 and 3); card wraps with full size flaps, stud-bound as folders. Somewhat bumped and rubbed to edges throughout, with crease to top corner of vol 2, slightly dampstained to corner of vol 3; overall good, for very unusual item. The three part masterplan for the ill-fated Montréal-Mirabel airport. Like the masterplan, the airport was conceived on a grand scale, and when built was the largest airport by area in the world. However traffic projections proved wildly over-optimistic while local transport links were poor, and the last passenger flight departed in 2004. A fascinating and rare insight into a huge and flawed project.
