Description: Oval portrait of Jean-Victor de Besenval de Brünstatt, looking to the left. Jean Victor de Besenval de Brünstatt (Soleure (Switzerland) 1671-1736) was a French officer and diplomat. Engraving on hand laid paper, sheet size 278 x 210 mm., platemark 232 x 173 mm. Engraved by Claude Drevet after Meissonier, c. 1707-1781. Claude Drevet (1697-1781) was a French engraver, nephew of Pierre Drevet. Juste Aurèle Meissonier (Turin 1675-1750 Paris) was a French architect, sculptor, designer, painter and jeweller.
