Steel engraving on wove paper, sheet size 285 x 206 mm., platemark 178 x 119 mm. Engraved by Johann Georg Nordheim after the painting by Georg Friedrich Adolf Schöner and published by Bibliographisches Institut, c. 1829 - ca. 1840 (publication date of the series 'Zeitgenossen'). Johann Georg Nordheim (Gehaus 1804 - 1854 Hildburghausen) was a German (reproductive) steel engraver, who specialised in portraits. Georg Friedrich Adolf Schöner (Schweinfurt 1774 - 1841 Bremen) was a Swiss-born German painter, lithographer and printmaker. He was active from c. 1789 until his death and produced mainly portraits. In good condition, toning and foxing in the margins, a faint dampstain in the lower margin. Lower right margin corner nicked.
