Description: Knee-length portrait of the Countess of Buckinghamshire, seated and leaning on a lyre, wearing a turban-like headdress. Etching and stipple work on wove paper, sheet size 237 x 159 mm., platemark 229 x 153 mm., engraved by William Henry Mote, and published by Longman & Co., London, c. 1840. William Henry Mote (1803-1871) was a British stipple and line engraver, primarily known for his portraits. He became a member of the Royal Academy when he was around twenty eight years old. In fair condition, a little browned overall, with a dampstain in the top left (affecting a corner of the image). A second, faint dampstain in the lower left corner of the image. Scattered faint stains in the margins.
