Description: Oval bust-length portrait of Lady Greenock. Steel engraving on wove paper, sheet size 238 x 164 mm., engraved by William Henry Mote after Louis-William Desanges, and published by David Bogue, 1854. William Henry Mote (1803-1871) was a British stipple and line engraver, primarily known for his portraits. He became a member of the Royal Academy when he was around twenty eight years old. Louis-William Desanges, Chevalier Desanges (1822-1905) was an English artist of French background, known today for his paintings of Victoria Cross winners. In good condition, sheet edges a little browned, right edge with some small nicks. Some scattered foxing in the margins.
