Description: Proof printing of this oval bust-length portrait of Wilhelm Leendert Krieger (1748-1822) minister in The Hague. Etching and engraving on laid paper. Sheet size 287 x 207 mm., platemark 238 x 159 mm. Engraved by Reinier Vinkeles after the drawing by Hendrik Pothoven. Published in Amsterdam by Johannes Wessing Willemsz., 1793 (this line below the imasge added in manuscript ink). Reinier Vinkeles (Amsterdam; 1741-1816), was an Dutch painter and engraver. He would become teacher tp several talented artists. He studied for ten years with Jan Punt and joined the Amsterdam Stadstekenacademie. Hendrik Pothoven (Amsterdam 1725-1807) was a Dutch painter, watercolorist, engraver and draughtsman. Rare proof printing, on a sheet with ample margins. Attached to carrier sheet. The margins quite foxed, the image cleaner (but still mildly affected). A small collection label on the verso of the carrier: 'Collectie Dr. J.G. de Lint' (not in Lugt).
