A child stands with outstreched hands towards the spoon that the woman holds up, but she is distracted by the attentions of her man. Lithograph on wove paper, sheet size 395 x 287 mm., image size 319 x 239 mm. Lithograph after own design by Pierre Duval le Camus, printed and published by Engelmann in London, c. 1830. The print was sold in London by Engelmann, Graf, Coindet, et cie., and in Paris by the artist and Mme. Brossier. Pierre Duval le Camus (Lisieux 1790 - 1854 Saint-Cloud) was a French painter and lithographer who specialised in portraits and genre scenes. His father was a master glazier and sent him to Paris to learn the trade. However, Pierre found himself attracted to the arts instead was taught by Claude Gautherot. From 1808 he would study with Jacques-Louis David. In good condition. Surface damage in the top margin and extreme top left corner of the image (insect damage). A few small spots in the center of the image area, a few more in the right margin. A faint dampstain in the lower right margin corner. All in all a good impression.
