Description: Two men leaning on crutches in a landscape. Woodcut on transparent Japanese paper. Sheet size 347 x 291 mm., image c. 230 x 220 mm. Made by Nico Eekman and published in the Houtsnedenummer (Woodcut issue) of the famous periodical Wendingen in 1919 (year 2, nr. 7/8). It was printed by De Volharding and published by De Hooge Brug. Nico Eekman (Brussels 1889 - 1973 Paris) was a Belgian-born graphic artist, draughtsperson, watercolorist and sculptor. He moved to Nuenen in the Netherlands in 1916 and later to Laren from 1921. There he would continue to live until the end of his life. Two bands of light discolouration in the far left and right edges (not affecting image). Some small creases in the very thin paper, in the lower left edge.
