Description: Landscape with a path leading towards a fortification. To the left a shepherd with their flock, a mountain in the background. Etching on laid paper, made by Abraham Genoels after his own design and published by Adam Frans van der Meulen. Sheet size 163 x 130 mm. Abraham Genoels (nickname: Archimedes) (Antwerp 1640 - 1723 Antwerp) was a Flemish Baroque painter, printmaker, draughtsperson, and tapestry designer. He is mainly remembered for his landscape paintings and prints. He worked in many places in Europe, including Paris, Rome and Antwerp. Adam Frans van der Meulen (Brussels 1632 - 1690 Paris) was a Flemish painter, publisher and draughtsperson. He is known for creating designs for prints as well as tapestries. Although he painted castles and landscapes, he is mainly remembered for his miltary scenes. In very good condition, cropped within platemark. References: Hollstein 37 ii/4 (with the address of Van der Meulen). With the collection mark of Ottokar Mascha (Lugt 1903 or 1904) stamped on the verso.
