Description: Leiden (Lugduni Batavorum), Iohannis Maire, 1655, 12mo., full leather binding with ribbed and gold tooled spine, red and blue sprinkled edges, [8]+168+[22]+281+[11] pp., the book is of solid construction and in good condition, but the head and tail bands are damaged with the tail band missing. With an engraved titlepage depicting a satyr selling books, a woodcut printer's mark and some decorative initials. Volume 1 (of two). It concerns a collection of satirical texts, opening with Justus Lipsius and his Satyra menippaea somnium. Each text has it's own halftitle.
