The Minister of Finance declares in this statement to have in his possession two documents concerning an enlisted debt of f. 5200,- to the National Debt Ledger of the Dutch State, by name of Jan Hendrik Sassen (1817-1892). The documents are in his care to ensure Sassen's coöperation should the National Funds be in need of more financial support. The documents will be returned to Sassen when quitus is granted. The name of the notary is Hendrik Reijnders from Venraaij. Dated to 19 June 1871, 's Gravenhage. The history of these National Debt Ledgers dates back to 1814 and was fashioned to French example. It concerns an eternal debt, where the original debt was enlisted in the Debt Ledger and stakeholders would receive 2.5% interest twice a year. It was a way for the government to make sure the National Funds would not dry up as they did in 1813.
