D.I. van Ilpendam, 1645, 8vo., full parchment limp spitsel binding with yapp edges, the bookblock has blue sprinkled edges, with handwritten title on spine, [37]+506+[12] pp., smudged parchment and some waterstains, the construction of the book is in very good condition. With printer's mark on titlepage (In oratione perdurantes Rom. 12.12.) and some lovely decorative initials. And a squished spider on the last page of the preface, just below the word "Amen". Lit: De Bie/Loosjes IV, pp. 2-9. l 3rd edition. Abraham van der Heyden or Heydanus (1597-1678) was minister and professor in Leiden. In 1676 he was laid off as professor because of his Cartesianism (a form of rationalism). The first and second edition of this anti-Remonstrant book were published in 1641. This is the third and last edition.
